At first the exibits seemed a little hokey to my family (12, 14 yr old), but we soon realized there's so much to learn about the Vikings and this place lays out the history in an engaging and fun way. Also enjoyed learning about the excavation work. As a side note, my wife and I found it interesting how some of the exhibits seemed intent on softening the Viking image. Have they been getting a bad wrap all these years? Who cares, well worth the price.

What a quaint little museum. But well worth the trip. I thought it would be a bit more detailed but still I learned a lot about Dublin and how the Vikings played such a big role there. I thought the artifacts would be more but the kids would enjoy themselves.
The open air area was great to just sit and enjoy the scenery.

Was recommended to us by driver of hop on off city tour and did not disappoint.

If you have watched Vikings on prime then you have to go here, everything will make sense! Dublin viking history is in the ground floor, most interesting but also has least things to see, mostly reading.

Medieval Dublin is on next floor up, more to see, less to read, some very interesting stuff.

Next floor up is about archaeological digs in Dublin, not my thing but sure is interesting to those that like that. The skeletons they found were interesting.

Then 96 steps up the tower, views are ok at the top, but you are inside and in reality not that high up so don't expect much and you will be pleased you made the effort.

We used hop on off city tour ticket to get 10% discount on entry. Does not get you in to the cathedral which is extra, we did not bother but kind of done being inside after Dublinia.

Nice little cafe too and gift shop at the end of course.

Educational hands on experience that's good for the whole family. The exhibit features a good mix of visual, written, audio and hands on exhibits that cater to all learning types. You can dress like a viking, hold their weapons, smell spices, talk to actors and read informational tablets on the walls. The first two floors deal with history, which I love, the third about the science of archeology, which I don't care about.

Nice place to have a quick idea of the history.
Maybe more for the children than adults, it is a good museum anyway. in 2 hours or a little more, you can have a great idea of the history with 3 times: Viking, medieval and now.
